Community Outreach

peopleHomestead’s community outreach makes real impacts for dozens of families in our own Hawks community, as well as at our sister school Ponderosa Elementary.  We also support The Ronald McDonald House and Clothes to Kids Denver.

Backpack Food Program – Food Drives: Food donated during our drives goes directly to children in our Hawk’s community and at Ponderosa, and should be items kids can open on their own. Gift cards are also accepted! Food drive dates: Sept. 10-14, Nov. 12-16 (canned goods & turkey drive), Feb. 25-March 1 & May 13-17.

Homestead’s Fall & Spring Toiletry Drive will benefit The Ronald McDonald House. Many of the families that stay at the House need and appreciate these necessities while their children are receiving medical treatments at The Children’s Hospital. Dates TBD.

Clothes to Kids Denver is a non-profit organization that provides new and quality used clothing to students, aged preschool–12th grade, who come from low-income or in-crisis families in the Denver Metro Area. For many students, inadequate clothing creates a distinction between themselves and their peers. The result can be poor self-esteem and lower academic performance. Clothes to Kids Denver provides students FREE wardrobes that will encourage their success in school. Students can shop twice a year to get a wardrobe of school clothing including 5 tops, 4 bottoms, 1 dress, 5 pairs of new socks, 5 pairs of new underwear, 1 pair of shoes, 1 coat and extras. Homestead will have a semi-permanent bin located near the front of the school for ongoing donations. Homestead has a bin located near the front of the school for ongoing donations.
