2019-2020 PTCO Plans & Fundraising Efforts

The Homestead PTCO has so many great things planned this school year, and we need the help of parents to make it a success. Each opportunity below has volunteer elements, and we will be emailing Sign-Up Genius alerts throughout the year.

Our goal this year is to grant about $80,000 to Homestead through the following events:

  • Homestead Dash – August 29, 2019
  • 100% Homestead – February 7 – 21, 2020
  • Grocery Card & AmazonSmile Programs

The money that PTCO raises goes towards the partial pay of our teaching assistants, technology subscriptions, field trips, enrichment assemblies, reading and math programs and the Homestead Garden, as well as all community events listed below.

We pride ourselves in being a neighborhood school, and we offer events to foster the community spirit that makes Homestead unique. Please join us for the following:

  • Muffins with Moms – Sept. 13, 2019
  • Fall Festival – Oct. 4, 2019
  • Winter Wishes – begins Nov. 25, 2019
  • Bingo – April 10, 2020 (Session 1: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
    Session 2: 6 – 7 p.m.)
  • Donuts with Dads –  April 24, 2020

By teaching about the importance of giving back, our students learn that it feels just as good to give as it does to receive.

  • Seasonal food/toiletry/gift drives to help those in need. Food drive dates: Nov. 18-22 (canned goods & turkey drive), Feb. 24-28 & May 11-15. Winter Wishes will begin Nov. 25, 2019 and allows for Homestead families to buy holiday presents for families in need within our own Hawks community as well as at Ponderosa Elementary School.  Toiletry drive dates:  Oct 21 – 25 and March 23 – 27.

Look how our garden has grown! With amphitheater seating and many new details, students will benefit from a new curriculum to complement it all. Classes will now utilize this outdoor space for many different learning experiences. Stay tuned for updates and ways to help.

Made possible by the 2016 bond passed by CCSD voters, Homestead underwent exciting changes this year with the construction of an innovation space in the summer of 2019. PTCO is aligned in this movement of encouraging opportunities for collaboration, problem solving and creativity, and there will be a community event on Feb. 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Homestead to showcase these efforts.

It’s no secret Homestead’s staff is top-notch, and the PTCO takes the time to honor them throughout the year. Special conference luncheons, treats and a staff appreciation week are some of the ways PTCO says thank you to our hardworking staff.

Stay up to date and informed of these events through this website www.homesteadptco.org , our Facebook page or on Instagram @homesteadelementaryptco.

We welcome your support and appreciate all you do for the students of Homestead to make it a place like no other!

Thank you,
Homestead PTCO Board
