2018-2019 PTCO Plans & Fundraising Efforts

The Homestead PTCO has so many great things planned this school year, and we need the help of parents to make it a success. Each opportunity below has volunteer elements, and we will be emailing Sign-Up Genius alerts throughout the year.

FUNDRAISING
Our goal this year is to grant about $90,000 to Homestead through the following events:

  • Homestead Dash – August 30, 2018
  • 100% Homestead – February 2019
  • Grocery Card & AmazonSmile Programs – contact robbandrach@yahoo.com to get your card

The money that PTCO raises goes towards the partial pay of our Teaching Assistants, consumables, technology, field trips, enrichment assemblies, reading and math programs and the Homestead Garden, as well as all community events listed below.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
We pride ourselves in being a neighborhood school, and we offer events to foster the community spirit that makes Homestead unique. Please join us for the following:

  • Muffins with Moms – Oct. 26, 2018
  • Fall Festival – Oct. 5, 2018
  • Winter Wishes – begins Nov. 26, 2018
  • Bingo – April 12, 2019
  • Donuts with Dads –  April 26, 2019

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
By teaching about the importance of giving back, our students learn that it feels just as good to give as it does to receive.

  • Seasonal food/toiletry/gift drives to help those in need. Food drive dates: Sept. 10-14, Nov. 12-16 (canned goods & turkey drive), Feb. 25-March 1 & May 13-17. Winter Wishes will begin Nov. 26, 2018 and allows for Homestead families to buy holiday presents for families in need within our own Hawks community as well as at Ponderosa Elementary School.

GARDEN
Look how our garden has grown! With amphitheater seating and many new details, students will benefit from a new curriculum to complement it all. Classes will now utilize this outdoor space for many different learning experiences. Stay tuned for updates and ways to help.

INNOVATION
Made possible by the 2016 bond passed by CCSD voters , Homestead will undergo exciting changes this year with the construction of an innovation space. PTCO is aligned in this movement of encouraging opportunities for collaboration, problem solving and creativity, and there are plans to offer a community event to coincide.

STAFF APPRECIATION
It’s no secret Homestead’s staff is top-notch, and the PTCO takes the time to honor them throughout the year. Special conference luncheons, treats and a staff appreciation week are some of the ways PTCO says thank you to our hardworking staff.

HOW DO I KEEP UPDATED?
Stay up to date and informed of these events through this website www.homesteadptco.org, our Facebook page and our bi-weekly Homestead Happenings email newsletter. If you do not already receive Homestead Happenings and would like to, please send an email to: commhomesteadptco@gmail.com.

We welcome your support and appreciate all you do for the students of Homestead to make it a place like no other.

Thank you,

Homestead PTCO Board
